Abstract

Fastening means for facade panels 28a, b Fig. 17 and facing panels 30, Fig. 18, partitions panels 34 glazing 36, Fig. 20, frames for doors and windows 39 Fig. 19 and like structural components, comprise a C-shaped section strip and a J-section strip 1a, 1b Fig. 17, 20 Fig. 19 46, Fig. 20 or a U-section strip 22, Fig. 18 or a Z-section strip, a recess or undercut in the C-section strip cooperating with a flange on the J-, U- or Z-section strip as shown in the Figures: to provide a channel opening for reception of the structural component. The flange at the opposite end of the web is fastenable to the structure to receive the components, and may be omitted in a modification, the web being then fastened to the structure. The items 1a, 1b Fig. 17 may be secured as by bolts to transverse members of a sub-structure and the facade is built up from the bottom, the bottom of the blocks 28a being placed in position on the C-section member 1a and then the upper C-section member 1b is placed in position in the upper groove of the lower block 28a and then the upper block 28b is placed in position, and so on. In Fig. 20 the C-section member functions as a removable glazing strip or stop. Fig. 19 shows a door box frame 39 secured in a facade block 28. Heat conduction between the fastenings and the elements they secure may be avoided by insertion of heat insulating material on the external faces of the fastenings, particularly those faces which make contact with the panels in the bottoms of the slots. The spaces 45, Fig. 17 may be filled with filler material. The C-section members may have projections or ribs at their backs as shown in Figs. 17, 18 and 19 to support the blocks 28a, 28b &c.
