Abstract

1,128,208. Surgical traction apparatus. CHAS. F. THACKRAY Ltd. 13 Dec., 1965 [29 Dec., 1964], No. 52624/64. Heading A5R. A spinal traction table which is mounted on a wheeled support has an angularly adjustable back rest 23 and head rest 30, means for supporting skull calipers 40 and means for adjusting the inclination of the table laterally and longitudinally. The table top 5 is supported on a pillar by a universal joint 6 and is adjustable about lateral and longitudinal axes by handwheels 12, 19. It is raised and lowered by a foot-controlled hydraulic ram in the pillar. The head rest 30 is hinged to the back rest 23 by hinges 31, including spigot and socket joints, so that it is detachable. A frame 41, which extends from the head rest and is longitudinally and laterally adjustable and may be swivelled to either side, carries a pulley 42. The pulley 42 is adjustable in height and supports a wire rope between skull calipers 40 and an adjustable weight 47 for applying traction to the spine. The table also has a foot-rest 48 adjustable longitudinally of the top and an adjustable knee rest 55.
