Abstract

[Also in Division B7] In a motor vehicle accelerator system comprising a Bowden cable 11 which transmits movement of an accelerator pedal 1 to a throttle valve in a carburettor, a tube 19 more rigid than the flexible core 17 of the cable 11 is fixed to each end of the flexible core 17 and the tubes 19 slide within sleeves 13 forming the ends of the sheath. The sleeves 13 are secured to an intermediate portion 11 of the sheath by metal ferrules 15. The tubes 19 and sleeves 13 are of plastics material. The pedal 1 is pivotally mounted on a support 3 fixed to a bulkhead 4 and is biased by a tension spring 5 to a throttle closed position.
