Abstract

1,125,441. Carrying trays. L. M. J. BALFOUR. 5 Oct., 1965 [6 July, 1964], No. 27819/64. Heading A4A. [Also in Division E2] Plates 3, 4 riveted to opposite sides of a tray 1 have projections 5 engaged in keyhole apertures 16 in end plates 10, 11 of a bail-like support 9 to which a handle 14 is pivoted by a link 15. Each projection has a portion 19, converging opposite sides of which are engaged by converging walls 17, 18 of the aperture in a rigid carrying position of the support, and the projection is rotatable in the larger part of the aperture for folding of the support against the tray for storage. Discs 7, 8 retain the plates 10, 11. The support is locked in storage position, folded to either side of the tray, by sliding engagement of the walls 17, 18 with converging walls provided on the other opposite sides of the portion 19. In modifications, the projections are U-shaped or the portion 19 is square, the support is lockable in only one, or in neither, folded position, or the support extends from only one side of the tray to a point above the centre of curvature of the tray. The tray is preferably made of fibre glass and the support and plates 10, 11 have a flexible coating, e.g. of nylon.
