Abstract

112,332. Urbach, G. A. Jan. 22, 1917. Coating-machines. - In apparatus fcr spraying the interior surface of the outer covers of pneumatic tyres with a rubber solution, the outer cover 14 rests on two grooved rollers 11, one of which is driven by an electric motor 9, and between vertical supports 15. An arm 24 pivoted in an adjustable block 21 is adapted to be brought into a horizontal position and held either manually or by a spring lock so that a V-shaped roller 27 spreads the cover, and shoulders a on the roller press the cover against the driven roller 11 and cause rotation of the cover. A sprayproducer 40, Fig. 6, is carried by the arm 24 and brought into operation after the arm is lowered. The spraying-nozzles 51 of the sprayproducer receive liquid from a chamber 42 supplied through a valve 46 and pipe 44 from a reservoir 45, Fig. 1, and receive air from an annular chamber 52 supplied through a passage 53 and valve 55. The valves 46, 55 are opened by depression of an arm 72, having adjustable screws 73, 74. The arm 72 is held in its lowered position by a pin 75 engaging a recess 79 in a lever 76. The first movement of the arm 72 is adapted by engagement of the pin 75 with the lever 76 to open a second air-valve 65, which supplies air through a pipe 70 to chamber 42 and clears the nozzles. On movement of the lever 76 to release the arm 72, the valve 65 is again opened so as to clear the nozzles after use.
