Abstract

1,123,200. Protective arrangements. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. 15 Dec., 1965 [16 Dec., 1964], No. 53172/65. Heading H2K. To protect against short circuits between the turns 12 . . . 15 of a coil of an induction furnace 11, the coil turns are wholly or partly surrounded by a conducting sheath or cover 17 which is insulated from the coil between its ends. At one end the sheath or cover is directly connected by 18 to the corresponding end of the coil and at the other end is connected through a relay 20 and/or a fault indicator 19 to the other end of the coil. Normally there is substantially no potential across the relay and/or the indicator, but when a fault occurs, short circuiting of turns of the cover results in unbalance between the voltages across the coil and cover and the relay and/or indicator are energized.
