Abstract

1,121,545. Helically wound hose. GEORGE ANGUS & CO. Ltd. 15 Nov., 1966 [14 Sept., 1965], No. 39215/65. Addition to 1,033,547. Heading F2P. In a modification of the pipe claimed in claim 1 of the parent Specification, the helically wound strips comprise a single layer only of thermoplastic polymeric material in which the reinforcing filaments are embedded. The Specification describes two methods of making the strip, one in which the filaments which may be monofilaments of polymeric material are pressed into the strip as they pass together between the nip of two rollers, and one in which the strip is profiled by a roller, the filaments laid in the troughs of the profiles and the crests of the profiles being flattened at the nip of two rollers, to embed the filaments in the strip. Three pipes built up from the strips are described (Figs. 5-7, not shown), two having a separately formed inner sleeve and one with a corresponding outer sleeve.
