Abstract

1,120,733. Spanners. THOMAS MELDRUM Ltd. 16 March, 1966 [18 March, 1965], No. 11606/65. Heading B4W. A socket spanner comprises a body part 10 and a lever 12 connected to the body by means of a universal joint 14 which includes a torque transmitting block 16 one end of which is connected between a pair of lugs 18 formed integrally on the body part and the other end of whioh is pivotally connected to the arms 20 of the bifurcated end of the lever 12. The arrangement is such that when the lever is swung relative to the body part the arms 20 of the bifurcated end of the lever at least partly embrace and make surface-to-surface contact with both sides of either of the lug members.
