Abstract

1,120,394. Clamps. L. LARGURA. 18 July, 1967, No. 28762/65. Heading E2B. A clamp for a tie-rod 11 comprises a wedge 5 and body 1, an opening through the body for receiving the tie-rod, a second opening 3 through the body in a direction crosswise with respect to the first opening which receives the wedge 5, the opening 3 at the side opposite to the side against which the tie rod is clamped in use having an arcuate section portion 4, and the wedge 5 having a cross section with a portion of substantially the same arcuate cross-section as the portion 4, opposite to the curved portion the wedge has serrations, the tips of the serrations lying substantially on a straight line. In operation the tie rod 11 is inserted into the first opening and the wedge 5 is driven into the opening 3 so that its arcuate portion seats in the portion 4 and its serrations engage the tie rod. Any pull on the tie rod causes the wedge to rotate to clamp the tie rod more tightly. The clamp body has a base with a hole 10 for securing the clamp to a form for concrete casting and a rib 9 strengthens the portion of the body projecting from the base.
