Abstract

1,118,573. Terminals. RAMLINK HOLDINGS (PTY.) Ltd. 1 March, 1967 [9 March, 1966], No. 9599/67. Heading H2E. An electric terminal for receiving an insulated conductor 19 comprises an insulating body 10 having a bore 11 partially extending into the body from one side to take the end 18 of the wire, with a second bore 12, through which the wire passes, extending right through the body parallel to but displaced from the bore 11. A conducting prong 15 projects from the shoulder 13 between the bores and pierces the insulation to contact the conductor when tension is applied to the wire. A slot 17 serves to anchor the wire and is shaped to grip it. A passage 16 facilitates the location of the wire in bore 12. For twin conductor wires two prongs 15 are provided. The terminal may be incorporated in any electrical appliance, the body 10 being shaped accordingly, or a modified terminal can be used as a wire-coupling member.
