[Also in Division F1] In a slave unit for operating a clutch and comprising an operating piston 1 slidable in a cylinder 2 in response to hydraulic fluid from a master unit 12 acting on the end face 9 thereof, the periphery of the piston is formed with an annular accumulator space 5 connected through a relief valve 7 to the end face 9, the space being arranged to collect fluid leaking past the piston and if the pressure in the space exceeds the pressure acting on the face 9 by a predetermined amount to relieve the pressure through the valve. The space is disposed between ring seals 3, 4, the seal 3 being urged into contact with the cylinder by fluid acting on the end face 9.
