Abstract
111,584. Evans, J. Feb. 1, 1917. Swifts.-In an apparatus for greasing wire ropes or ropes or lines of other materials, the receiving-drum E may be slightly tapered and is removable from its bearings. One of the flanges of the drum is loose, so that the coil of rope &c. may be slid off the drum. The coil is wound on strips of wood or metal Q laid round the drum. The spaces between the strips form guide channels for the binding wire or cord. If a cylindrical drum be used, the strips Q may be tapered. The drum may be supported on standards B, C secured to the bank or otherwise.
