Abstract

1,115,794. Continuous ovens; drying apparatus. BRITISH IRON & STEEL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. 6 Oct., 1965 [6 Oct., 1964], No. 40800/64. Headings F4B and F4G. A continuous oven for drying coatings on steel strip, wire &c., comprises chambers 13, 14 separated by a partition 15 formed with ports 17 and reflector surfaces, the treated material 12 being heated by radiant heating elements 16, assisted by air supplied by duct 18. Contact with partition 15 initially heats this air which carries off vapours &c. through outlet 19. The oven may comprise a number of units as disclosed in Specifications 1,002,679, 1,007,956 and 1,009,258. The reflector surfaces on the partition 15 may be formed of anodized Al or A1 alloy as disclosed in Specification 1,009,258.
