Abstract
1,219,399. Continuous strip heating furnaces. SELAS CORP. OF AMERICA. 31 Oct., 1969 [1 Nov., 1968], No. 53611/69. Heading F4B. Continuous strip heating equipment comprises a preheating chamber 4 and a vertical furnace 5 heated by opposite rows of burners 8, and hot gases offtakes 11 and 12 on opposite sides of an inlet slot 9 for the strip 1, said offtakes leading to a duct (13, Fig. 2) having a valve controlled exhaust branch 14 and a valve controlled branch 17 leading to lower and upper ducts 18 and 19 opening into the preheating chamber 4 near its entrance. The chamber 4 also has upper and lower exhaust passages 23 and 24 leading via a duct 25 to the exhaust branch 14.
