Abstract

1,115,527. Sealing strips. GEBR HAPPICH G.m.b.H. 23 Sept., 1965 [17 Dec., 1964], No. 40569/65. Heading E1J. A sealing strip of channel form comprises a metal strip 1 (Fig. 3) with spaced lateral tongues 5 on each side of the central line, adjacent ones being connected by webs 7 close to but offset from the centreline, the strip 1 being encased in an elastomeric material 10 (Fig. 4) such as synthetic plastics material to receive a plate 9 or the like between channel walls. The free tongue ends 4, 6 are bent over across the channel and the encasing material 10 provides sealing lips 11, 12, 13, 14 to engage with the plate surface. The material forms a hollow sealing bead 15 to engage an adjacent surface. In a modification the final article has a sealing bead integral therewith having a hollow duct and a rib-like projection bearing tightly against the plate or the like, which is bent.
