Abstract

Piezo-electric lead zirconate-titanate ceramics of composition (PbxCdy)(2ra Tib Sng )O3 + (Fe2O3)d wherein x = 90-99 atomic per cent y = 1-10 atomic per cent and x + y = 100 a \sE 90 atomic per cent b = 10-60 atomic per cent g = 0-65 atomic per cent and a + b + g = 100 and d is less than 0.2% of the total weight of the composition, are claimed per se, and are produced by mixing and grinding in a steel ball mill starting materials represented by the formula (PbxCd)y(Zra Tib Sng )O3 as above, shaping the resulting mixture under uniform pressure, and firing, the duration of mixing and grinding being such that after firing the ceramic contains less than 0.2% by weight Fe2O3. The starting materials may be pure PbO, CdCo3 or CdO, ZrO2, TiO2 and SnO2.
