Abstract

An insole for a lady's shoe comprises a forepart and a hindpart formed of a single continuous, jointless piece of flexible material e.g. leatherboard, the hindpart being rendered inflexible by a layer of thermoplastic material such as polypropylene, acrylo-butadienestyrene copolymers, high density polythene, polyamides, cellulose acetate, or cellulose acetatebutyrate, moulded so as to lie over at least part of one face of the hindpart and secured thereto. The thermoplastic material may be moulded on to the insole as described in the parent Specification and may contain fibrous reinforcements e.g. glass fibres, and fillers. The thermoplastic material may be moulded over a metallic shank stiffener and may surround part of the edge of the flexible material so that the thermoplastic material forms part of the edge of the insole.
