Abstract

1356738 Boots &c R W VOGEL 4 April 1972 15278/72 Heading A3B An article of footwear has an upper including at least two sheet like parts 2 of air permeable material, the parts 2 being joined by plastics material which is integrally moulded with a moulded sole 3. As described the parts 2 (which have an outline shown by the dotted line 4) are placed in a mould (not shown) and plastics material is injected into the mould to form the sole 3, toe cap 10, quarters 6 and strips 5, 14, the plastics material over lapping both surfaces of the edge regions of the parts 2. The edges of the parts 2 may be perforated to provide a key for the plastics material. The toe cap 10 may also be perforated to improve the ventilation of the shoe.
