Bore-hole apparatus. - A swivel for use in well drilling comprises a body part b to which the tool is secured and which contains a chamber d with a lateral opening o through which may be inserted the tubular shouldered spindle e connected to the operating rope. A cross pin p may then be fixed below the spindle. A washer g is provided above the shoulder on the spindle, and flats r may be provided on the washer and spindle so that the width of the slot o may be kept small. Grooves s are provided for the engagement of fishing-tools.
