Turning-gear.-In a turning-gear operable by hand or by an electric motor through clutches b, k as described in Specification 106,820, the starting-motor f is arranged in front of the starting-gear case o concentrically with the hand cranking-up shaft d. The armature is mounted on a hollow shaft l enclosing the shaft d and having a gear wheel g, which drives a gear-wheel m through gearing h, i. The wheel m carries the clutch member k, and for electric starting it is moved axially by an electro-magnet e, bringing both clutches into engagement. For hand starting, the shaft d carrying the clutch member c is moved axially to couple it to the engine shaft.
