A yarn carrier comprises a radially flexible wire shell formed by a single spring bent to form longitudinal corrugations, the base end portions of which are held by a closed and rigid sleeve which extends around the base end and which limits the radial flexibility thereof. The base end portions of the corrugations may extend radially outward to form feet which are enclosed in the sleeve which is preferably of U-shaped cross-section. The sleeve is preferably formed of upper and lower annular plates joined as by spot welding at their radially outer edges, and the inner edge of the lower plate being turned up to form an inner wall, thus restricting radially inward movement of the wire. The upper plate is formed with slots receiving the arms of the corrugations either in pairs or singly.
