Abstract
1,108,307. Switchgear structures; air break switches. A. REYROLLE & CO. Ltd. 6 April, 1965, No. 14658/65. Heading H1N. A fuse switch 10 is withdrawable from a cubicle 11 for isolation. The movable isolating contacts 29A-31B are integral with the fixed contacts of the switch 10 and are formed as a plurality of spring-urged rigid members (Fig. 7, not shown). The switch, which is assembled on a carriage 12 withdrawable by a screw and nut device 63, 64, comprises a fuse carrier 40 mounted for rectilinear movement by rollers 42 in slots 43 in the carriage and carrying movable switch blades 35 which are engageable with one end of each of the contact assemblies 29-31 in arc chutes 88. The carrier 40 is movable by triangular plates 44 engaging the rollers 42 and driven by rollers 55 in turn driven by a spiral spring (Fig. 10, not shown) which is wound and then released through bevel gearing 52 by a handle 48 mounted on a door 14 of the cubicle. A stud 61 engages handle 48 to prevent opening of the door 14 while the switch is on; a cam 70 on the bevel gear shaft engages a stop 72 to prevent closing of the switch while the carriage is partially withdrawn; one of the plates 44 has a projection 66 engaging a stop 67 to prevent withdrawal or insertion of the carriage while the switch is on.
