An article of foamed plastics material, e.g. a doll body, having a smooth outer surface and a cellular interior, is formed by placing an unfoamed synthetic plastics composition into a mould cavity 38-38<SP>1</SP> having vents 50, 50c, rotating the cavity in a heated oven 60 about the axis of a shaft 70 which, in turn, is rotated by a shaft 74, whereby the composition is foamed to fill the cavity. The mould consists of upper and lower mould halves bolted together with recesses in their adjoining surfaces for the reception of the ends of members (14, 16, 18), Fig. 1 (not shown), extending from the article to form attachments for additional parts. The plastics composition may comprise polyvinyl chloride with a plasticizer and blowing agent.
