Abstract

1,105,586. Water tube boilers. SVENSKA MASKINVERKEN A.B. 5 Nov., 1965 [9 Nov., 1964], No. 47031/65. Headings F4A and F4S. A heat exchanger used as a marine steam or hot water boiler, is made up of a plurality of similar interchangeable water tube units in parallel planes, each unit comprising parallel vertical inlet and outlet manifolds 1, 2 respectively interconnected by obliquely sloping riser tubes 3 provided with copper, steel or aluminium pins 4 (and see Fig. 3, not shown), to increase the heat absorption from flue gases which flow vertically upwards over the tubes 3. The manifolds 1 are connected by welding at top and bottom to feed and overflow headers 31, 33 respectively and the manifolds 2 are similarly connected to collecting and overflow headers 32, 34 respectively. The whole heat exchanger is supported by a girder frame 13. In a modification (Figs. 4-6, not shown) two collecting headers 32 are used to which the vertical outlet manifolds 2 are alternately attached through flanges 35. The feed header 31 is attached through flanges at the bottom of the inlet manifolds 1.
