Abstract

1,105,000. Livestock feeding apparatus. P. W. LARKIN. 15 Feb., 1967 [15 Nov., 1965], No. 48483/65. Heading A1M. Livestock feeding apparatus comprises a hopper 1 from which foodstuff is fed along a vibrating trough or shoot 3 to a rotatable distributing device 5. The device 5 may be an open-ended box-like member and is mounted on a shaft 6 driven by belt and pulley drive from motor 11, the shaft 6 extending upwardly through the device 5 and being cranked at 7 so that as the shaft rotates the trough 3 is vibrated. A shutter 14 controls the rate of flow of foodstuff from the hopper and the inclination of trough 3 is adjustable by means of wing nut 15. In a modification the distributing device 5 comprises two plates spaced apart along the shaft and being interconnected by pillars or webs, the upper plate having an aperture to receive foodstuff from the trough. The apparatus may be operated under the control of time switches or alternatively manually operable switches may be provided.
