Abstract

1,104,016. Transformer. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 17 Aug., 1966 [1 Sept., 1965], No. 36774/66. Heading H1T. Lateral relative movement of core components 10, 12 causes the gap between the two parts 14, 20 of a shunt path to vary. The components may be solid, or be built up from laminations. In use the component 10 carries primary and secondary windings one on each side of projection 14 and insulated by U-section members, and the components are held together by friction clamps which allow lateral movement by the application of sufficient force. This adjustment is carried out after the tranformer is assembled, with its windings energized and its output monitored. The invention is stated to make possible mass-production of transformers with similar characteristics by allowing manufacturing variations to be compensated for after assembly. After adjustment, the transformer may be coated with a suitable material to prevent mis-adjustment resulting from shock or vibration.
