Abstract

1,102,997. Rotary pumps and motors. DANFOSS A/S. Feb. 24, 1966 [March 5, 1965], No. 8189/66. Heading F1F. A rotary internally-meshing gear pump or motor in which the externally-toothed gear has a smaller number of teeth than the internallytoothed gear and the centre of one of the gears, orbits in a circular path, includes a distributer valve comprising a first valve disc 14, Fig. 1, rivetted to the internally-toothed gear 11 and a second valve disc 3 secured between stationary housing parts 2, 4. The disc 14 is formed with a plurality of radial longitudinally extending slots 17 connected one to each tooth space 19 between the teeth on the gear 11 by drillings 18 and to the disc 3 with pairs of parallel slots 20, 21, Fig.2, which are substantially parallel to the slots 17 and spaced apart equal to or wider than the width of the slot 17. The slots 20 communicate through drillings 22, annular channel 23 with an inlet 24 which in the case of a pump is connected to a lowpressure source and in the case of a motor a high-pressure source, whilst the slots 21 communicate through drillings 25, annular channel 26 with an outlet 27, discharge in the case of a pump and exhaust in the case of a motor. A further disc 13 is rivetted to the other side of the gear 11, so that as the externally-toothed gear 10 is rotated by or rotates, via a splined connection 9 and a shaft 6, the gear 11 together with the discs 13, 14 orbit in a circular path about the centre of the gear 10 with the disc 14 alternately opening and closing the slots 20, 21 in the disc 3 to connect the tooth spaces 19 either with the inlet 24 or the outlet 27. Rollers 16 surrounding bolts 5 securing the housing parts together, co-operate with arcuate recesses on the peripheries of the discs 13, 14 to permit the orbiting of the gear 11 and discs 13, 14. Annular pistons 32, 33 are urged by fluid-pressure transmitted from slots 20, 21 respectively against the disc 13 to pressure balance the separating forces between the discs 14, 3. Instead of the pairs of slots 20, 21 being located in the disc 3. A plurality of slots, e.g., 20 may be located in the disc 3 whilst the slots 21 are located in a similar disc on the other side of the gears.
