Roller heads.-To produce slubs of equal or varying length at equal or varying distances apart in mules, ring frames, or other single-thread spinning-machines, a cam f driven through change gearing c, d from the draft pinion g, moves a striking-lever k and operates the back roller shaft i through a pawl m, ratchet-wheel j, and a free wheel h. A spring n or weight draws the lever k back after it has been displaced by the cam f bearing on the adjustable bowl l. A chain o, the length of which can be adjusted, limits the effective driving-stroke of the lever k. A number of cams with varying profiles may be used to give slubs at varying distances apart. Specifications 1441/77 and 11231/03 are referred to.
