Abstract

1,101,010. Livestock feeding apparatus. R. H. E. CHAMPEL. 26 Nov., 1965 [27 Nov., 1964], No. 50328/65. Heading A1M. Apparatus for feeding livestock e.g. poultry or rabbits comprises a hopper 1 divided into a number of compartments 2-5 receiving different feed constituents, and conduits 10, 11 along which feed is conveyed from the hopper to suspended feed troughs 31 via telescopic tubes, the amount of feed delivered to a trough being varied by adjusting the distance between the bottom of the tubes and the base of the trough. This adjustment is made by means of cables 15, 16 extending over conduits 11, 10 respectively and connected to tubes 28 by suspension cables 26 and passing over pulleys 17 the position of the cable being adjusted by means of screw 19 moving along scale 21. The cables are then wound on winch drums 23, 22 the cables being wound in opposite directions so that as the tubes of one conduit are raised those of the other conduit are lowered. The amount of each feed constituent delivered from the hopper through openings 6 in its base is controlled by a slide valve. The cables 15, 16 may be electrified to prevent poultry from perching thereon.
