A digital electric data processor includes means for transferring data from a plurality of check points within the equipment at different times to a common checking circuit arranged to detect errors in the data, to make corrections to the data and replace faulty data with corrected data in the processing equipment when required, and means inhibiting the further processing of the data being checked until the checking operation has been completed. Preferably the correction is made by a subprogramme stored in a central register and the data is accompanied by check bits, although the correction could be made by hardware. The central correction register and the associated input and output should be duplicated so that if the correction programme fails in one unit the second could be brought into use.
