Air conditioning apparatus is made up of at least two coupled units chosen from a set, at least one of the units having alternative air inlet and/or outlet openings to allow for different geometrical arrangement of the apparatus. Those openings not required for coupling or for the passage of the main air stream through the apparatus are provided with detachable covers. The units include heaters, coolers, filters, washers &c. and the set will include at least one fan unit and one air flow connection unit.
