A floodlight, especially for use at airports, comprises a casing 1 containing a linear light source 2 and a cylindrical reflector 3 of parabolic cross-section extending unequal amounts on opposite sides of the optical plane 6, at least one elongated plate 10 forming a screen above the plane 6 and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the light source and a window 7 closing the casing and inclined to the axis. Preferably, two plates 10, 11 are used, the upper surfaces being black and the undersurfaces reflecting.
