Abstract

109,444. Wehli, M. Sept. 4, 1916, [Convention date]. Carding-engines.-The licker-in grid of a cotton-carding engine comprises the usual bars 4, a flat bar 5, which may be adjusted at an inclination to the surface of the licker-in, a series of knife bars 6, and a set of triangular bars 8, the upper faces of which are at an angle with the surface of the licker-in cylinder. The object of the arrangement is by enlarging the passages for the air to diminish the velocity of the current and allow all dust, &c., to fall to the ground whilst good fibres are sucked in by the licker-in and carried along to the carding cylinders.
