Abstract

1,094,325. Gas-blast switches. CENTRAL ELECTRICITY GENERATING BOARD. Nov. 1, 1966 [Aug. 6, 1965], No. 33823/65. Heading H2B. A circuit breaker using sulphur hexafluoride SF 6 as the arc quenching medium and having a nozzle 14 through which an arc is drawn, the nozzle being formed of or lined with boron nitride. A movable contact 13 co-operates with a resiliently mounted fixed contact 12. Boron nitride or a coating or lining of boron nitride is used generally for arc limiting devices and/or other electrically insulating structures exposed to arc breakdown products in SF 6 breakers.
