A cutting device for a edge trimmer comprises a pair of rotating blades 11, 12 and a fixed blade 13 having a straight cutting edge 19, each rotating blade having a convex stone rejecting leading edge 17 and a recessed cutting edge 21. The leading edge 17 may be formed as a plurality of straight edges. The fixed blade may also have a convex stone rejecting edge. Alternatively the fixed blade may have a convex stone rejecting edge and the rotatable blades may have straight cutting edges.
