Abstract

1,092,848. Watches. E. PIQUEREZ. June 29, 1966 [July 14, 1965; Jan. 31, 1966], No. 29106/66. Heading G3T. A watch case comprises a case band 1 and a watch glass 13, below which is mounted a toothed ring 9 capable of being rotated by a control member consisting of a knob 4 and a rod 5 which bears a pinion 7, the control member being movable from one position in which it is non-rotatably locked to another position in which it may be rotated so that the pinion rotates the ring. The rod 5 is mounted in a tube 3 driven in a hole 2 in the case band 1. Projecting flutes 11 on the rod engage flutes 10 on the tube thereby locking the knob against rotation. On pulling the knob 4 outwards until a shoulder 12 of the rod abuts the tube 3, the flutes are disengaged so that the knob may be rotated which in turn rotates the ring 9 via the pinion 7. The ring carries a guide-mark with reference to which the hands of the watch may be set. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the flutes (18) on the tube (20) are formed on the end (19) of the tube close to the knob (14) and engage flutes (17) formed on a threaded sleeve (16) of the knob into which the rod (15) screws. In a second modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the flutes (51) are formed on the external surface of the tube and engage flutes (41) on the inside of the outer sleeve (101) of the knob (24).
