An electric torch comprises two or more bulbs adapted to be connected independently into circuit with a battery by means of a switch having two or more conductive arms 13, 14 mounted on a common pivot 12 connected to one pole of the battery, each arm being independently arcuately movable into contact with a corresponding terminal 22, 23 to complete the circuit through the respective bulb. The arms project through slits 33, 34 provided in the casing of the torch and are provided with finger pieces. The torch preferably has two bulbs, the first being of the prefocus type for projecting forward a beam of white light and the second being of the self-flashing kind located on the top of the torch in a transparent red plastic cap incorporating one or more prismatic reflector areas. An adjustable carrying handle is provided.
