Abstract

Aggregates are produced by feeding a filler, e.g. flue ash or cinder, and a binder, e.g. cement or lime, to a mill where they are ground to a fineness such that a maximum of 1.5 weight per cent is retained on a sieve having a mesh size of 0.2 mm.2 and a maximum of 8% is retained on a sieve having a mesh size of 0.088 mm.2, the filler and binder then being homogeneously mixed, moistened with water or an aqueous solution of an accelerator e.g. calcium chloride, pelletized and the pellets stacked in heaps at a temperature of at least 15 DEG C. for 8-24 hours.
