1,090,409. Vehicle lighting systems. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Nov. 26, 1964 [Sept. 28, 1963], No. 38303/63. Heading H2H. A motor vehicle lighting system comprises a switch 14 whereby front and rear lamps 17 on the offside or number plate, and nearside front and rear lamps 19 may be energized independently for parking purposes. A switch 21 coupled to an ignition switch 22 prevents the car being driven away with only some of the lamps illuminated. In a modification, the contact arm in one position may bridge both contacts 16, 18, and in a further arrangement the contact arm 15 is connected directly to the battery and contact 9 replaced by two contacts each connected to the lamps on one side of the vehicle, the two contacts being bridged by contact 6.
