Abstract

In a hot dip process for galvanizing continuous steel strip, the strip is inductively pre-heated in a protective gas to a temperature of 520 DEG -680 DEG C. and is fed to the zinc bath so quickly that the strip is at a temperature above 300 DEG C. for a maximum time of 3 seconds. The frequency of the induction current is such that the interior of the strip is only partly affected by the heating.
