Abstract
1,085,497. Boring earth &c. PATENTS INVESTMENTS & LICENSES SOC. ANON; Nov. 3, 1965 [Nov. 4, 1964], No. 46604/65. Heading E1F. An auger, particularly for forming a cavity for a pile, comprises a shaft 22 having a blade 25, the volume defined by one complete turn of the blade at a point adjacent the lower end of the auger being less than at points above this level. The pitch of the blade may be increased progressively or in steps towards the top of the auger and the diameter of the shaft may be decreased progressively or in steps towards the top of the auger. Cement may be fed through a passage 23 and openings in the bottom of the auger to form a pile, the auger being withdrawn without rotation so the cement is fed into the cavity.
