Abstract

1,085,376. Suction lifting devices. BASON & SONS Ltd. Aug. 1, 1966 [May 6, 1965], No. 19067/65. Heading B8H. The suction heads of a machine for lifting rows of bricks have a central recess C surrounded by a soft gasket of rubber or the like and a port D for extracting the air which is sealed by a valve N until the suction head is pressed on to a brick. If the brick is too uneven for the gasket to form a seal the valve closes when the heads are raised so that the rest of the lifting heads are unaffected. The valve N is mounted on a lever M pivoted at K and is held closed against a sealing rubber ring O by a spring P. The head is reciprocable on a plate G and is held spaced therefrom by springs H.
