Abstract

1,085,069. Snap-action switches; two-part couplings; fusible cut-outs. SQUARE D CO. Dec. 10, 1965 [Dec. 23, 1964], No. 52599/65. Headings H2B. H2E and H2G. A switch-and-fuse has a handle 28 connected by a tension spring 40 to a contact arm 30 pivoted to the handle at 34, 36 and having a contact 32 co-operating with a fixed contact 24. The contact 32 is connected to a fixed clip contact 48 of a cartridge fuse 50 mounted in a withdrawable holder 62 which has a further clip 64a connected to a contact 64b engageable with a fixed contact 56c on a terminal 56. The holder 62 cannot be inserted or withdrawn when the switch is " on " because of a plunger 66a which is projected into a recess 62b in the holder by a cam 28b on the handle 28. A lamp 70 connected between terminal 56 and clip 48 indicates when the fuse is blown or withdrawn. If the contacts 24, 32 weld, a projection 46 on the contact arm engages a lug 44 to force them apart.
