Abstract
1,084,789. Carding engines. TOYODA AUTOMATIC LOOM WORKS Ltd. Oct. 16, 1964, No. 42265/64. Headings D1F and D1N. A carding machine with a high through-put has its roller diameters and speeds arranged to maintain a low density of fibres on the main cylinder. Accordingly, the maximum diameter of the taker-in roller is 200 mm., of the main cylinder 1,000 mm., and of the doffer 500 mm., with minimum speeds for the firstmentioned two rollers of 1,200 and 300 r.p.m., the speed of the doffer being within the range of 20 to 40 r.p.m. The centres of the taker-in roller 3 and the doffer 2 are located at least 300 mm., below the centre of the cylinder 1. Preferably, the saw-tooth card wire for the cylinder has a tooth angle of 80‹ or more with a tooth depth of 1.5 mm., or less, as in Fig. 2A, and the wire for the doffer has a tooth angle of 50‹ or less with a tooth depth of 2.2 mm., or more, as in Fig. 2B.
