Abstract
1,083,262. Spouts for ladles. UNITED STEEL COMPANIES Ltd. Feb. 24, 1966 [Nov. 24, 1964], No. 47822/64. Heading F4B. A bottom pouring spout for a ladle or tundish has a metal casing 21 surrounding a refractory tube of tubular sections 23, 24 mating end-toend, and is secured to the ladle by a quick release coupling, one part 7 being secured to the ladle, and the other part being formed by a collar 8 engaging the upper part of the casing. The outlet bore 26 of the spout should be no greater than the outlet bore 4 of the ladle, but the inlet bore 25 of the spout may be larger than the outlet of the ladle. A screwed sleeve 22 at the outlet of the spout enables the pressure with which the refractory tube 23 is urged against the ladle nozzle body to be adjusted. The metal spout casing or the spout lining may have provision for induction heating, and the spout may be forked or curved.
