Abstract

1,083,087. Reactors. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. April 9, 1965 [April 11, 1964], No. 15288/65. Heading G6C. A reactor is cooled and moderated by water at or above critical pressure, and includes heat exchange surfaces to transfer heat to a secondary fluid. The secondary fluid inlet may be via a double spiral pipe 12 in reactor closure cap 6. Primary coolant and moderator is circulated by motors 17. Advantage is taken in operating the reactor of the rapid change of specific volume with temperature of critical and near supercritical water.
