Abstract

1,082,711. Masted lift trucks. MATBRO Ltd. Jan. 6, 1965 [Jan. 10, 1964], No. 1279/64. Heading B8H. The mast assembly 7 of a lift truck is supported on a member 5 for pivotal movement about an axis 4, offset from the centre line of the truck, under the action of a ram 26 between a forward loading position and a side transporting position, the arrangement being such that the centre line of the mast assembly lies substantially on the centre line of the truck when in the forward loading position. The mast assembly comprises a primary section, mounted on the member 5 with its lower end above a load carrying deck extending along one side of the truck, and a secondary section movable on the primary section so that its lower end may be lowered substantially to ground level in the forward position of the mast assembly. Having raised the lower end of the movable mast section above the level of the load carrying deck, the mast assembly can be slewed to the side position where the lower end of the movable mast section is lowered on to the deck and further retraction of the mast ram allows the load support to be lowered to the deck. The forks are pivotally mounted on the lifting carriage and may be tilted by hydraulic rams and toggle linkages, Fig. 2 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the mast assembly is tiltable.
