Abstract
108,208. Accles & Pollock, (Schipanoff, M. M.). Aug. 2, 1916. Folding cycles.-In a folding cycle frame consisting of front and rear parts hinged together at an intermediate line, two rearwardly extending divergent struts or stays adjoin each other at the top of the hinge or articulation, one stay i being connected at its rear end to the upper extremity of the seat-pillar member e of the frame and the other stay j connected at its rear end to the member e at an intermediate point. The front part of the frame may have an upper tube b so inclined that when the frame is unfolded it is in alinement with the stay j. The two parts of the frame are hinged together by pivot studs q. A tube a carried by the front part of the frame contains pistons s pressed apart by a spring t, the pistons being coupled to bolts r which are adapted to engage lugs n, p on the front and rear portions for locking the frame in extended condition. The upper bolt engages with the lug by which the stays i, j are connected together at the top of the hinge.
