In a friction clutch having one or more driven discs 16, 18 normally clamped between a lock plate and a presser plate 14 by springs 60 and released by levers 30, wear plates 52 are interposed between radial lugs 46, 48 on an intermediate plate 12 and the presser plate 14 and the sides of a slat 50 in a cover-plate 32 through which the lugs 46, 48 project. The wear plates 52 have locating projections 54, 56, 58 which engage the cover 32 to prevent axial and radial movement of the plates.
