Abstract
1,080,969. Cold separation of gas mixtures. STAL REFRIGERATION A.B. Sept. 10, 1965 [Sept. 18, 1964], No. 41977/66. Divided out of 1,058,348. Heading F4P. Chlorine is separated from hydrogen and air admixed therewith by passing the mixture to the base of a column 17 wherein chlorine is condensed and collected and from which column condensate is withdrawn through the base by a pump 21, cooled in an externally refrigerated heat exchanger 20 and returned to the column at the head and descends in direct contact with ascending gas mixture; residual gas being discharged from the head of the column down a vertical tube 19 therein. Entrained condensate is separated at 22 and product liquid chlorine is withdrawn through a float-controlled valve 23.
